Blue and White Jar with Fruits, An Original Oil Painting

This painting was a bit more involved than my usual paintings, It took extra sittings to complete this piece. It has multiple layers of glazes and scumblings to heighten it's color and sense of drama. As much as I love alla prima painting, nothing excites me more than bringing a painting up to this level of a polished finish. Hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed painting it

Blue and White Jar with Fruits is painted on a 16" x 20" oiled primed canvas. The painting depicts a green apple, peaches, grapes, a green vine along with a blue and white jar/ canister.

Hanging Pear

My obsession with painting pears continues. I know I should be painting something else, but I always manage to sneak in a pear or two. Nevertheless, it was a sheer delight to paint this one.

Chinese Take Out

One day while raiding the fridge for something quick and easy for lunch, I found some left over Chinese food. The light in the refrigerator must have trigger the light in my head. For not only had I found lunch, I also had an interesting subject for this painting. I am still debating about putting the red Chinese lettering on the container.

Two Cherries, Original Oil Painting

I love painting fruit. There is something expecially fun and energetic about painting cherries. I think I just like experimenting with different shades of red. I just bought a bag of them, so if I can manage to paint them before I eat them all, there will be more cherry paintings to come.

Springtime in the Country

I am planning to get out and do more plein air painting this year. I love colorful and dramatic skies. Which was my motivation to paint Springtime in the country. The sky was passionate and almost poetic, which was the feeling that I tried to convey with this piece. Springtime in the Country is painted on a 12 x 24 mdf board.

Yellow Roses

Hi Everyone, Well it is supposed to rain, sleet and snow again today. So, I thought it would be a good time to start a new painting. I was up really early this morning and worked on some sketches for my next painting projects.

My New Years resolution is to paint at least two paintings a week...I only make a couple of resolutions and those that I make, I try to keep. I hate breaking promises to myself. For instance, every year I always promise to lose weight. I start the year motivated, exercising and eating right. By mid year I, for what every reason, I am back to my old habits. By the end of the year, I am lucky if I did not gain any weight. Unfortunately, for me I usually gained a couple of extra pounds. So at least for me, losing weight is no longer a New Year's resolutions and I am longer disappointed with myself and I have even managed to shed a few pounds. I think I am using reverse psychology on myself. But it works. lol.

These roses were on the table at my favorite Mexican eatery. They were calling to me paint me, paint me. I was really fascinated by the reflections in the glass vase. The light was just beautiful. I took a couple of pictures and jotted down a few notes. Of course, everyone in the restaurant thought I was a certifiable nut. I'll risk a few strange stares for my art.

I hope you all enjoy this painting as much as I did painting it. The multi-color petals were a real challenge. Yellow roses is painted with oil paints on an 16 x 20 canvas.

Chocolate Candy

I originally had planned for this painting to be a demo. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures. The picture on the right shows my progress when my memory returned.


I will say that I painted this one faster than usual because my model was under constant threat of being eaten, by everyone in my family, including myself. After this painting was done, the candy did not stand a chance.

Life is Just A Bowl Of Cherries

Cherries are another one of my summertime favorites. This one was fun to paint. I started one with a grisaille under painting and glazed with layers of the rich colors. Life is a bowl of Cherries is painted on an 11 x14 canvas.

I have A "To Do List"

I have notes and stickies for everything. My "to do list" is impossible to complete, it is too long. Things usually find their way to my list because I don't want to do them in the first place. I have things on my list like clean out a closet or mop under the stove (yuck). You know, those activities, that I have do be done, but you hate doing them, but you have such a sense of accomplishment after you complete such unpleasant tasks.


My "list: included doing some work in the garden. Today was another hot and muggy day on the east coast. Despite this miserable weather, I managed to get some gardening done. I, also tried working on my painting outside, but was forced to move back indoors, when the bugs discovered me and decided that I made a tasty meal.


I am working on a few paintings, which are in various stages of completion. Today's goal was to make some progress on the purple flower painting and do a daily painting. Well, I did make some decent progress on the flower. My daily painting once again, is on the list of things that I did not have a chance to complete. Tomorrow is another day, the daily painting moves to the top of the list.
