Sunflowers, A Tribute to Vincent Van Gogh
Without a doubt, Van Gogh is one of my favorite Master Artist. This painting was inspired by Van Gogh's Vase with 12 Sunflowers. I had the pleasure of visiting this painting at the Philadelphia Art Museum.
I won't pretend to have capture the vivacity and intensity of the original, but overall I am pleased with this painting. I love the thick applications of twirling and swirly paint strokes applied with almost a reckless abandon, only to come together in the end to form a cohesive piece of work. Painting these sunflowers not only encouraged me to try a different style of painting, but it also renewed my appreciation for the circle of life. Thank you Vincent.
